Leesburg // By introducing the EverFi Financial Literacy Platform to Lake County high schools, United Southern Bank is helping educate students on a variety of financial topics.

The web-based program uses the latest in new media technologies—video, animations, 3D gaming, avatars, and social networking—to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation.

Since its inception in 2012, more than 1,400 Lake County high school students participated in the program.

The course teaches students about a variety of financial topics, including credit scores, student loans, savings, credit cards, and other important financial topics. Students who successfully complete the course receive financial literacy certificates, which greatly enhance their college applications and resumes.

“Through the EverFi platform, students became certified in over 600 topics in financial education, allowing them to become more informed, responsible citizens,” says USB President Greg Nelson.
